day 19...09-21-09

This is Victor, a homeless man I talked to for more than 45 minutes this afternoon. He shared with me all his wisdom and experience. He talked (a mile a minute) of God and Satan and the Vietnam war. We exchanged gifts, I gave him my pocket change and he gave me this photo. People walking by gave us plenty of odd looks. Some thought he was weird and some gave me looks of pity like I was being forced to endure his soliloquy on the glory of God. There was really no need, I was there by choice and he brightened my otherwise gloomy day. Does God not teach us to love all people? He lives this life by choice and he speaks what he believes, what he knows to be true. I'd rather spend time with a person like this than someone who's deepest desire is to impress me with a fancy car or an expensive watch.

  3. Great shot and great post! I am inspired. I love to talk to just ordinary people on the street - they all have a story and it is their story. Great capture!

  4. Does he live here? I also seem to have a knack for talking to homeless people, so my son said.

This is a great capture. Thanks for the tip of loose change in your pocket.
